This article is a work in progress! This means that it's still being edited and is not complete but we are working on getting it finished. |
This article will go through what a 'character profile' is and how to correctly format and contribute to a character profile.
This template applies to both doll characters and media characters.
Infobox
- Main Article: Template:Character
Every human character uses the default "Character" infobox template. This is the only template that should be displayed on character pages. This template should not be used on the pages of animal or pet characters.
This template is automatically placed on the right of the page. It should be placed at the top of the page, before the introduction but under any header images.
- Copy and paste this template onto any character page to use it.

You can check out Template:Character for information and how to fill out the character infobox.
Text
This section will go through the types of text that should be included on character pages. Each section should start with a header.
Introduction
The introduction should be in the top left of the page and should state the characters name, nickname, their first appearance doll appearance and first media appearance. Some introductions may differ depending on if the character is a doll exclusive or media exclusive character.
You can use this template:
CHARACTER NAME, known as NICKNAME by HIS/HER friends, is a BRAND NAME character that first appeared as a doll in DOLL LINE NAME and on-screen in MOVIE/EPISODE NAME.
Here's an example from Meygan's profile:
Meygan, known as Funky Fashion Monkey by her friends, is a Bratz character that was introduced as a doll in the Xpress It! line and on screen in Bratz: Starrin' and Stylin'.
Background
The background section of a character profile include real world information about the character creation, this can include information such as:
- When the characters name was copyrighted by MGA.
- When the characters copyright was abandoned by MGA.
- Who designed/came up with the concept of the character.
Here is an example from Cloe's profile:
Cloe was originally named Zoe, she, like the rest of the core girls was designed by Carter Bryant who was inspired by a group of teenagers leaving Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Missouri. Bryant described Cloe (then Zoe) as 'the leader of the pack, was a bit sweeter, softer'. Cloe has appeared in every single Bratz movie except Lil' Bratz Party Time and has had the most doll appearances out of the core 4.
Not all characters will have a history section, as there isn't much public information about many of the characters creation process.
History
The history section should include information about the characters canon history. This can include information such as:
- When or where the character was born
- Where the character lives
- Where they went to school or where they work
Here is an example from Cloe's profile:
Cloe lives in Stilesville, California. She studied at Stiles High School and is a singer in the punk-rock band, Rock Angelz, the pop group, Space Angelz, the rock group Starz and is one of the founders of Bratz Magazine where she's writes about beauty and runs the "Dear Cloe" advice column.
Some characters such as, Wayne don't have any canon history and so will not have a history section on their profile.
Appearance
The "appearance" section of a character profile should be split into two subsections, "features" and "style".
Features
The "features" subsection should include a description of the characters physical features, this includes but is not limited to: hair colour and length, eye colour, skin colour, height and weight, build, scars and any tattoos.
Here is the appearance section of Nicole La Monde's profile as an example:
Nicole has long red hair, green eyes and tanned skin. She is tall, naturally very pretty and being a model has a very skinny, toned build. She has a mole above her lip. Byron describes her as having a 'million dollar face'. However Jean Paul also describes her as 'super-model next door' meaning although beautiful she has a very generic, model like face.
When describing a character try and avoid statements such as "Jane looks like Abby", even if the character shares a character model with another character or is an identical twin, you should treat each profile as an individual and describe them as if they are the only character that looks the way they do.
Style
Since Bratz is a very fashion focused brand the style section should include any information about the characters style.
Information about a characters style preferences can usually be deducted from what they wear and Bratz books and doll boxes usually contain biographies that give an idea to the characters style. References should be used in this section when possible.
Example from Fianna's profile:
Fianna loves her shoulders, so she wears a lot of loose tops, tube tops, and off-the-shoulder dresses that show off her best features. She loves hairbands, chunky earrings, and ankle boots. She wears a lot of lace, frilly clothing, silk, and sheer material.
Personality
The "personality" section of a character profile should include a brief summary of the characters personality. This should include their good and bad traits, and can include accounts of their behaviour as well as quotes others have said about them.
Here the personality section of Nicole La Monde's profile:
Nicole is very selfish, caring only for herself and what she wants. She takes interest in others only when it benefits her and when a person can no longer help her get what she wants she discards of them. She is rude, often subtly insulting others she feels are below her, as seen when she calls Jade a beginner model and pushes Yasmin aside when she's talking to Cameron. Nicole believes because she is genetically gifted with being beautiful that she deserves to be the million dollar face of John Paul more than the other models. Showing she is entitled and will stop at nothing to get what she wants, including poisoning her friends and co-workers and even murder.
Not every character will have a personality section, as some characters haven't appeared in any media or commercials and therefore nothing is known about their personality.
Relationships
Appearances
The "appearances" section of a character profile should include a list of media and products the character has appeared in. This includes but is not limited to; dolls, playsets, books, movies, games and music videos.
Here is an example of the "appearances" section of Raya's profile:
* Hello My Name Is * Metallic Madness * Study Abroad (1st Edition) * Bratz: C.I.Y. Shoppe * Instapets * Music Festival Vibes * Selfie Snaps (2nd Edition) * Study Abroad (Discount Version)
Characters that have more than 20 appearances will have to have a separate page that lists them all, such as 'List of Jade Dolls & Appearances'.
Example from Jade's profile:
For a full list of Fianna appearances check out "List of Fianna Dolls & Appearances".
Voice Actors
Quotes
Trivia
Some, but not all profiles may include a "trivia" section. The trivia section should only include information not presented elsewhere on the article.
Galleries
Profiles should include a maximum of 4 galleries.
Media
The media gallery should be the first gallery on the page, above the "artwork" gallery. The media gallery should only include images from official Bratz media, including but not exclusive too; movies, games, books and commercials. All images in this gallery should be in jpg format.
Example from Meygan's Profile:
Artwork
The artwork gallery should be placed below the 'media' gallery and above the "dolls" gallery. The artwork gallery should only include official artwork. Fan art should not be included in the gallery. All images in this gallery should be in png format.
Example from Meygan:
Dolls
The dolls gallery should be placed below the 'artwork' gallery and above the 'logo' gallery. The dolls gallery should only include images of the profile characters dolls, including pictures in and out of box, pictures of accessories and screenings. All images in this gallery should be in jpg format.
This gallery should include a maximum of 12 images.
Example from Meygan:
Logo
The logo gallery should be placed below the 'dolls' gallery and above the references section. The logo gallery should only include the official logo emblem of said character, which can often be found on Bratz packaging or in the Bratz games. All images in this gallery should be in png format.
Example from Cloe:
Most character profiles will not have a logo gallery as most characters do not have their own logos.
See images for more information.
References
Every page should have a references section, which is added automatically to all articles that use the references template.
