Cashmere is a character that appears in Pet Project.
Story[]
Cashmere's adoption story started in Pet Project when Yasmin adopted aspen from the Stilesvile Pet Shelter and inspired Cloe to adopt a puppy, but she also couldn't help thinking about the other pets in the cages at the shelter. Sasha agrees that the animals need loving owners and forever homes. Cloe devised a plan for the pets but thought it would be crazy, and Yasmin, Sasha, and Jade had her share the idea. Cloe thought of adopting all the animals without being trapped at the shelter and figured she could give them a home with the girls' help by starting an animal campaign about adopting pets. Jade, Sasha, and Yasmin love the idea but must talk to the pet shelter person to get them on board and create a signature event. So, they went to the shelter and met with Ms. Fiske, the director, to discuss how they could help with the other pets. Ms. Fiske explained that they tried adoption events around town in the park since they were so busy. Jade suggested they do a pet show to showcase the pets, give them makeovers and offer prizes for 'Best Tail Wagger,' 'Most Cuddly,' and 'Funniest.' Jade would design the ribbons, Cloe would design the posters to catch the eye of the crowd, and Sasha would spread the word on the school's radio station and the local radio station she did an internship. Yasmin even included the school's TV broadcast station to share on the morning announcements and the local TV station where they guest hosted. Sasha suddenly noticed the shelter was also worn-down and needed a total makeover from top to bottom to make the pets more comfortable. After they left the shelter and returned to Sasha's, she asked if there were any pet magazines, and Yasmin stated that Bowwow Meow Magazine was on the market, and Sasha recommended that they sponsor the event.
At first, Cloe was upset because Yasmin brought Aspen home without having the entire group meet her first since they shared everything, and Yasmin admits that she wanted the other to come but couldn't let Aspen stay in the shelter for that long and wanted Cloe and Sasha to meet her as soon as she and Jade got home. but then While walking Aspen for Yasmin, Cloe couldn't help but wonder if what Yasmin said was true. She wasn't trying to be selfish. She was trying to help the animals like Aspen and realized Yasmin was right about letting her jealousy get the best of her and trying to one-up Yasmin! Cloe and Aspen raced back to Yasmin's just as she woke up from her nap, and Cloe rushed over to apologize and hug her. Yasmin was tired and confused as Cloe continued everything they discussed and suggested that they work on the pet show while helping out with Aspen. After approving the idea, Yasmin sneaked another few minutes of sleep while Cloe speed-dialed Jade and Sasha while playing with Aspen quietly outside.
Monday morning of the last week of school, after finals, Sasha and Yasmin have to cover the pet show promotions in journalism class, Cloe has to finalize her poster in art class, and Jade has to work on the prize ribbons in home ec. In journalism class, Sasha and Yasmin explained their plan to the journalism teacher Mr. Mazzei, who agreed that Yasmin should do a cover story for the school newspaper on the Stilesvile Pet Shelter and the Precious Paws Pet Show as it will be the last issue of the year. While Yasmin called Mrs. Fiske for more facts while researching the shelter, Sasha offered to do a Pet Segment for the school's tv broadcast station all week by bringing a cute, cuddly cat or dog that will be featured in the pet show and talking about their background and Mr. Mazzei agree.
Sasha called the shelter, got ideas for four pets that would be perfect for profiling, and made arrangements to pick them up before school and return during the second period. When she was done, she asked about promoting the event on the school's radio station, and Mr. Mazzei agreed. Next, Yasmin called up the local paper and spoke with the editor, Mr. Sigel, about the event, and having coverage for the paper would be a huge help. Mr. Sigel agrees and loves the pieces the girls did for the summer. Yasmin shared that she wants to start a profile of the shelter and how they're fixing up the place, making it comfortable for the pets and appealing to pet owners, and do a follow-up covering the event to help drive traffic to the shelter after the show. After hearing everything, Mr. Sigel proudly states that they were looking for community service events to cover, and they run the first piece on the weekend and the second piece Monday. Yasmin raced over to Sasha, who was on the phone with the TV producer of the local TV station, Ms. Clark, about the shelter being makeover and a segment of the pet show showing off the animals on the runway. Ms. Clark loved the idea and offered the girls to discuss the project. Sasha gladly accepted and replied that the shelter makeover would be held after school and shown to have the TV cameraman over to tape plenty of cool stuff. By the time she hung up, she had turned to see Yasmin, and they started jumping in excitement, catching the attention of their classmates, and Sasha had to clarify about animals. Sasha then called the Stilesville radio station and explained the situation to the radio producer, Ms. Leland, who agreed to have the DJs hype the event and offer the girls to discuss everything. Sasha jotted down the date and time of the interview in her planner and looked up Bowwow Meow magazine on the computer. Yasmin recommends talking to the managing editor about the event, so Sasha dials the number from the website, and Ms. Tanaka, the managing editor, comes on the line.
Sasha began discussing the Stilesville Pet Shelter's first annual Precious Paws Pet Show and completing the remodeling of the shelter to launch the event and makeover of the dogs and cats to prepare them for the show, which will be held next Saturday. Ms. Tanaka was impressed with the gala event. Still, she replied that it'd take several months to include something like that in their magazine, so Sasha suggested that they come to sponsor the event if they're interested since they're going to promote the magazine on all the news coverage, including TV, radio and newspaper outlets and their publication would be associated with a truly spectacular event that help will help a lot of animals in return. Ms. Tanaka offered to send over a ton of pet toys, beds and blankets, collars, and food dishes they got from companies to cover their products after Sasha stated that they just needed paint and pet supplies to turn the shelter from blah to beautiful. Ms. Tanaka recommends featuring the "Precious Paws Pet Show Best in Show" winner on the cover as well as the feature of the event. Ms. Tanaka got to go to an editorial meeting but promised to make sure a check for the makeover and a batch of pet supplies would reach out to them.
During lunch at the cafeteria, the girls sat down at their usual table with their trays and started dishing. Jade pulled a handful of hot pink, teal, and bright purple ribbons from her purse and stated that Ms. Shepard, a pet lover, had the entire class helping with them and working on the cute pet cushions as the final project and donating them. Jade also confirmed that Ms. Shepard allows them to use any fabric for the shelter makeover. Cloe presented the final touches on the poster she worked on with Mr. Del Rio and shared that he thought they needed an event mascot, showing them a glossy poster with a hot pink polka-dotted background featuring the sparkly paw print logo she designed earlier, all the details of the events and Aspen in the middle. But, of course, their excitement was dashed by the troublesome duo, the Tweevils! Kirstee wondered why the girls would be on the cover of Bowwow Meow magazine and asked if they were insulting animals, only for Yasmin to coldly responded that it was a pet from the pet shelter that was going to be on the cover. Kaycee squealed that it was her favorite pet magazine, and Kirstee asked why it was showing off a dog.
Sasha explained that it's for the pet who wins "Best in Show" at the Precious Paws Pet Show since the magazine only cares for those less fortunate. Kaycee suggested to Kirsten that they should enter their dogs, Muffy and Buffy, the show to launch their pet modeling careers and get dog food and pooper-scoopers until Jade interrupted by telling them it was for the rescue pets at the shelter only. Kirstee argues that this is discriminatory, and Cloe snapped back that it's a charity to help homeless pets, not to show off the twins' spoiled dogs. Kaycee stated that their dogs are purebreds, and Sasha replied that they couldn't be in the show. Giving up, the twins left with a usual insult and high-pitched giggles, and Jade grumbled that they should be locked in a cage. Cloe claimed they're just mad because their dogs will never be famous as Aspen. Just then, the girls' friends Meygan and Vinessa stop by to check out the ribbons and poster, asking what they're up to. After explaining the pet shelter and the pet show, Vinessa offered help. Jade accepted, involved in redoing the shelter, planning radio and tv spots, glamming up the pets, and studying for finals. Of course, Meygan and Vinessa accept the help. Cloe wondered if the boys could be of assistance, and Sasha teased about asking Cameron since Cloe and Cameron didn't want to admit their feelings for each other. Cloe denies that, and Jade teased that she was thinking of asking Cameron and told her to ask the boys for help. Cloe goes to the boys' table and asks for their help with an event at the pet shelter, and surprisingly, Cameron, Dylan, and Koby agree and will see them after school. After that, Cloe rushes back to the girls' table and wonders if nine volunteer helpers are enough, but Sasha states it's perfect. After lunch, Cloe has to review her biology final, Jade her final chemistry exam, Yasmin her psychology, and Sasha with her math. Finals week and the makeover of an entire pet shelter is not a good idea, but the girls were up for a challenge. They grab their bags, dump their lunch trays, and head to class.
At the shelter, Cloe was suggesting of having an open play area instead of cages by showing Ms. Fiske sketches of pens branching off each other for the animals that needed to be on their own for the main cat and dog play areas, and she agreed, though wanna add a few smaller areas for the shyer pets. Though she wondered that they couldn't afford it, Sasha confirmed that Bowwow Meow magazine agreed to sponsor the event and donate supplies, and they might have to scale back from the plans Cloe suggested but will make it happen as much as possible. Soon later, the boys, Meygan and Vinessa, show up, and the gang starts repainting the exterior with the paint Cameron's shop teacher donated for their cause, giving it a fresh gleaming cream color just as Ms. Leland shows up with her camera crew to catch the makeover on tape. Jade confirms that they have to do a bright blue contrasting trim. The next day at school, during the first segment on the school's TV broadcast station, Jade introduced a sweet little grey cat name Velvet, and Sasha told viewers about her profile and how she was found alone in the shopping mall's parking lot. Yasmin then shares about the shelter, Jade talks about the makeover they were doing, and Cloe urges everyone to come to the pet show to meet tons of cute animals like Velvet, who need loving families to care for them. After the segment, Jade feels bad that Velvet is lonely, but Yasmin assures her that their Pet Spotlight will help her find a loving home. Jade gave the kitten to Sasha to give back to the shelter and was surprised to see a line when she arrived. Everyone at school called their parents about Velvet and begged them to have her. Sasha figures Velvet should go to the first arrival, but luckily, there are many other kittens. Sasha had to help out Ms. Fiske with the new pet owners, and half an hour later, ten new cat owners had gone home, and Sasha got back to school for the third period. By the afternoon, she announced on the school's radio station about the pet show, and the local radio station promoting all day. The whole place was packed when the girls and their friends got to the shelter! Ms. Fiske found 15 more pet owners since Sasha left. Meygan, Vinessa, Dylan, Cameron, and Koby went to help Ms. Fiske while the girls looked in amazement. Realizing there won't be enough animals for the pet show, Yasmin was thinking of including adopted pets in the show because she wanted to enter Aspen. Although she, Cloe, and Sasha almost got into a fight about that being Aspen being the mascot and having her as the reason to help the other animals and Jade stated that Aspen getting a fair chance and confirmed that the Pet show is getting everybody stressed out and wanna get back to work.
The girls headed inside, and Ms. Fiske was looking over the adoption paperwork before showing the girls the shipment of boxes from Bowwow Meow magazine in the back room, from pet beds, blankets, and collars to cat furniture, dog bones, and everything Ms. Tanaka promised and more and a sizable check. With the school's donations, they will donate the check to the shelter. As the girls began working on the trim and outfitting the dog play area, Cloe sketched up removing empty cages to make room, Cloe was approached by a brown and cream puppy following her, and the girls suddenly noticed when she went to get a drink of water. After calling her parents, Polita and Tom, and getting approval, Cloe adopted and named her puppy Cashmere after noticing her soft fur felt like her sweater. Soon, she and Yasmin started discussing taking puppy training classes, going to dog parks, and having puppy playdates. Finally, it was time to head home, and Cloe cradled her new puppy in her arms and wondered why they had never hung out before. Sasha claimed the shelter could be a better hangout, but Jade declared it will once it's finished.
